Doljabi Trail
A 돌잔치 card built around the 돌잡이 itself — the moment the birthday baby reaches for the object that foretells their future. The hero is a round red-lacquer 소반 on carved tiger legs, a jade silk 보자기 embroidered with a gold 壽 laid on top, and on it the doljabi objects drawn in fine detail: a skein of white thread cinched in red silk, a bamboo brush and gold-stamped ink stick, a string of brass coins with a silk tassel, a porcelain bowl heaped with rice, a horn bow and fletched arrow, and the modern picks — stethoscope, microphone and gavel — while a chubby baby hand in a 색동 sleeve hovers above, wiggling its fingers as it decides. The date is written on a hanji slip tied with red thread, the D-day sits inside a coil of thread, the baby's photo is set in a terracotta-and-jade arch over a 색동 ribbon, and in “The Doljabi Game” guests tap an object: the little hand reaches over, grabs it and lifts it with a bounce, and a card stamped with a red seal reveals its traditional meaning and a witty fortune for the baby.
